Meet the Board: Dan Fliehman

A lifelong resident of Lowell, Dan Fliehman is one of the newest members of Marietta Community Foundation’s Board of Directors. Joining at the end of 2024, Dan brings with him a legacy of service, a successful 42-year career in electrical contracting, and a heartfelt dedication to the people of Washington County.

After graduating from Fort Frye High School, Dan earned a degree in Electrical Engineering from Muskingum Technical College. He returned to Lowell to marry his wife, Elanda, in 1983. Together, they raised two sons, Ryan and Eric, and today, Dan cherishes the time he spends with their six grandchildren.

Dan’s dedication to service runs deep. For more than three decades, he has volunteered with the Lowell Volunteer Fire Department. He’s also served as Treasurer at his local church for over 30 years and continues to be a proud participant in the annual Lowell Octoberfest.

“I’ve always believed that if you care about your community, you should be willing to roll up your sleeves and help where you can,” Dan shared. “It’s about doing your part to keep things moving forward for the next generation.”

Professionally, Dan spent his career with Davis Pickering & Company, Inc., where he built not only electrical systems but also lasting relationships throughout the region. He now hopes to draw on those connections in his work with the Foundation.

“Getting out in the community and creating these relationships allowed me to get to know people from all walks of life,” he said. “Now I want to use those connections to help spread the Foundation’s mission across Washington County.”

Dan currently serves on both the Scholarships and Grants committees, where he’s eager to identify projects that align with the Foundation’s mission. “There’s always something in the community that could use a little extra support, and that’s what I hope to bring—an awareness of those opportunities.”

Equally important to Dan is inspiring others to give back, especially those who may not realize the power of their generosity. “Everyone has something to offer,” Dan said. “It’s about showing up and doing what you can. That’s what makes a strong community.”

With decades of service and a strong connection to his community, Dan brings valuable perspective and steady leadership to the Foundation. Whether through committee work, outreach, or everyday conversations, he’s already helping strengthen the Foundation’s reach and impact across Washington County.
