A New Era of Impact: Investing in the Future of Washington County
Washington County, OH — A new era of impact is unfolding at Marietta Community Foundation – one shaped by generosity, driven by purpose, and centered around the future of Washington County.
Scholarships have long been a pillar of the Foundation’s mission, but today, they represent something even more. With more than 60 unique scholarships, we are opening doors to local students to dream bigger, reach higher, and pursue their future without the heavy weight of financial uncertainty.
In 2025, the Foundation is set to award an estimated $500,000 in scholarships through one-time awards and multi-year renewals. However, that number still has the potential to grow due to the flexible nature of some awards and the timing of ongoing award decisions.
To ensure fairness and integrity in the selection process, all applications were reviewed without names or identifying details. Guided by detailed rubrics, our volunteer Scholarship Committee approached each decision with care, evaluating how each student’s story aligned with each scholarship’s mission. With 108 unique applicants – this process was no easy feat.
We extend our deepest appreciation to our dedicated Scholarship Committee members—Mike Buell, Dan Fliehman, Mary Lou Moegling, Ryan Robinson, Michelle Secrest, Jill Witucky, and Katelin Wolfe—for their thoughtful reviews and unwavering commitment to equity. Their work ensures that every award reflects the true intent of our donors and the promise of our students.
At the core of this initiative is the belief that education changes everything. Thanks to our generous donors, who have chosen to leave lasting legacies through scholarship funds, and to the volunteers who steward this process with integrity, we are helping write the next chapter of Washington County—one student at a time.
