Marietta Community Foundation Announces 2025 Outstanding Nonprofit of the Year
Washington County - Impact in Washington County is measured not just by numbers, but by lives touched, hope restored, and opportunities created. Each year, Marietta Community Foundation seeks to honor a nonprofit whose work exemplifies this impact.
This year, the Foundation proudly recognizes the O’Neill Center as its 2025 Outstanding Nonprofit of the Year.
For more than three decades, the O’Neill Center has been a steady, compassionate presence for older adults across Washington County. As a nationally accredited senior center through the National Institute of Senior Centers, the O’Neill Center has grown into a vibrant hub for residents aged 60 and over. Each year, they serve thousands of individuals through vital services, wellness programs, and life-enriching activities that allow seniors to thrive, stay connected, and feel supported.
But what truly sets the O’Neill Center apart is more than the programs they offer. It is how they show up.
They are the definition of a true community partner; an organization that sees opportunity where others might see obstacles. They respond without hesitation, step in when the community needs them most, and embody a mission carried out through compassionate leadership and unwavering dedication.
“What I love most about the O’Neill Center is that they are always there… without hesitation, without question. I know that if I send out a call for help, Connie and her team will step up, ready to contribute, collaborate, and make things happen,” said Heather Allender, President & CEO of Marietta Community Foundation. “We turn to them not only for their insight, ideas, and expertise, but because they are true friends… partners in every sense of the word. Honoring them as our 2025 Outstanding Nonprofit of the Year celebrates a relationship that strengthens our entire community and reminds us what is possible when organizations come together with heart and purpose.”
Connie Huntsman, Executive Director of the O’Neill Center, shared her appreciation for the honor:
“The O’Neill Center is truly honored to receive this award, and I want to express my deepest gratitude. This recognition means so much, yet what means even more is the partnership we’ve built together. Marietta Community Foundation has been an unwavering source of support, inspiration, and collaboration to our entire organization. Their commitment strengthens our mission and reminds us what is possible when organizations work together for the betterment of our community. Thank you for believing in us and helping us make a meaningful difference. We are all so very proud to be your partner!”
