Eric and Lynn Erb, Settlers Bank Named 2025 Philanthropy Award Winners

Washington County – On an evening dedicated to generosity, service, and lasting legacy, Marietta Community Foundation proudly hosted its 2025 Philanthropy Awards—an inspiring tribute to those who continue to shape a brighter future for Washington County.

This year’s theme, “A New Era of Impact,” served as a powerful reminder that philanthropy is more than financial support—it’s reflected in time, voice, leadership, and the simple act of showing up when it matters most. The event brought together community leaders, partners, and friends, all united by a shared vision: to build a stronger, more compassionate tomorrow.

2025 Outstanding Philanthropists of the Year: Eric & Lynn Erb

Eric and Lynn Erb were honored with the prestigious Outstanding Philanthropist of the Year award in recognition of their unwavering commitment to the Foundation and the broader community.

Eric previously served on the Foundation’s Board of Directors for over fifteen years and continues his service through impactful work with the Greater Marietta Community Food Pantry. Lynn shares this passion for service, contributing her time and leadership as a board member for both the Fenton Foundation and the Parkersburg Area Community Foundation.

Together, the Erbs exemplify what it means to give wholeheartedly. In 2022, they joined the Foundation’s Legacy Society, making a meaningful, future-focused commitment to support generations to come. In 2024, they became bronze-level Friends of the Foundation, helping to strengthen the Foundation’s everyday operations through sustained giving.

“Lynn and I just feel so incredibly blessed to be here tonight,” said Eric Erb. “We’re deeply grateful to Marietta Community Foundation—not just for this honor, but for the work they do every single day. I truly believe we have one of the best Foundations in the country. That’s why we give the way we do—because we have absolute faith in Heather, her team, and the Board of Trustees. We know our unrestricted dollars are being used wisely and are truly making a difference in our community.”

2025 Outstanding Business of the Year: Settlers Bank

Settlers Bank, a cornerstone of Marietta’s business community, was named Outstanding Business of the Year for its exceptional leadership, service, and unwavering commitment to Washington County.

In 2020, at the height of the COVID-19 pandemic, Settlers Bank partnered with the Foundation for the impactful “60 for 6” campaign—helping to raise and match $60,000 in funding to support local school districts. Their generosity ensured safer classrooms and better resources for students across the region.

In 2024, when unexpected flooding affected parts of the region, Settlers Bank once again rose to the occasion by transforming into a central distribution point for emergency supplies. They helped deliver food, cleaning products, and essential items to families in need. Whether supporting long-term initiatives or providing boots-on-the-ground relief, Settlers Bank continues to lead as a true hometown business.

“Settlers Bank is incredibly honored to accept this award—it means more than words can express,” said Laura Miller, Marketing Director. “Twenty-six years ago, six local men came together with a dream—to create a true hometown bank. Not just a place for transactions, but a place rooted in relationships, trust, and a shared commitment to this community. We may be a team of just 22, but every single one of us feels a deep responsibility to give back—not just financially, but with our time and our energy. Because when you live and work in a place like this, you realize that a strong community doesn’t just happen. It’s built—person by person, act by act. We’re proud to do our part in helping it grow and thrive.”

More Than a Moment

As the evening came to a close, one truth rang loud and clear: impact isn’t just a moment—it’s a movement.

“What made this evening truly special was recognizing that every person in that room carries a unique story of what philanthropy means to them. That individuality—that philanthropy is not one-size-fits-all but deeply personal—is what I find most admirable,” said Heather Allender, President & CEO. “At the Foundation, we see it as our privilege to walk alongside this community on their philanthropic journey, helping turn those personal commitments into lasting impact.”

Marietta Community Foundation extends heartfelt congratulations to this year’s award recipients—and deep gratitude to all who make Washington County a place where generosity takes root and kindness thrives.
