Scholarships
 
Thanks to the generosity of our donors, dedicated to investing in students' futures, we administer more than 50 scholarship funds through an open application process. However, the majority of our scholarship recipients are chosen by representatives from the school system and do not require an application.
 
Scholarship information, guidelines and applications are also distributed to the guidance departments of our local schools.

Steps To Get Started With Our Scholarship Application Process:

  1. Review the scholarship timeline below for important dates.
Scholarship Timeline:

Mid January
Scholarship Applications are available to the general public.
Mid January - Late March
Complete and submit scholarship application, along with all support materials to the Marietta Community Foundation.
Early AprilApplications must be submitted by Monday, April 3rd 4:00 p.m.
Late April
Scholarship Committees meet and select recipients.
Mid - Late May
Recipients will be notified of their selection during their High School Senior Awards Ceremony.

       2.  Review the requirements of each application to confirm your eligibility.

Available Scholarships:
 
Kyle Bankes Memorial Scholarship
This Scholarship is to be awarded to graduating seniors from Fort Frye High School. Qualified applicants must be involved in drama, music, track or cross country. Applicants must also have a minimum GPA of 2.5 and must attend a 4-year post-secondary institution. The Scholarship is not renewable.

David C. Barrett Sr. Memorial Scholarship
This $500 Scholarship is to be awarded to a senior attending Warren High School or a Warren senior at the Washington County Career Center with a 2.5 cumulative GPA or above. The student must plan on pursuing a post-high school degree at an accredited institution with a goal of working in the field of agriculture or education.

Bee You Scholarship
The scholarship is valid in the Freshman year of the studentís education at an accredited technical college, 4-year college, or university. There is no specific curriculum the student must pursue. Student must be a current senior in a Washington County, Ohio or Wood County, West Virginia school. Scholarship is not renewable and can be used for books, supplies, tuition, and/or Room & Board.

Stanton W. Brock Art Discovery Scholarship
This $1,000 Scholarship is to be awarded to a senior who would like to continue his or her education by going to an art school. The Scholarship is not renewable. The recipient should be someone with demonstrated art talent and who will study art to become a more accomplished artist and has an intention to make art a vocation. This award is available to a senior attending any school in Washington County or surrounding areas.

Carpe Diem Athletic and Academic Scholarship
This $350 Scholarship is to be awarded to graduating seniors from Marietta High School. Qualified applicants must have a minimum GPA of 3.0 and is a graduating senior from Marietta High School. Applicant must attend a 2 or 4-year accredited college or university. Applicant needs to have participated successfully in an area of athletics at MHS, using well the skills of a sport, showing team leadership, unselfishness, and sportsmanship on the playing surface.

Edward Parrish Chapter Colonial Dames XVII Century Scholarship
The scholarship is valid in the Freshman year of the studentís education at an accredited technical college, 4-year college, or university.  There is no specific curriculum the student must pursue. Student must be a current senior in a Washington County school (or a resident of Washington Co.) or a direct descendant of an Edward Parrish Chapter Member.  Scholarship is renewable for Sophomore year if student maintains a minimum GPA of 3.0.
 
 
Danny Dutton Athletic Memorial Scholarship
The Scholarship was developed to encourage and promote MHS baseball athletesí to seek a higher education while demonstrating a kind and generous soul.  The scholarship will be awarded to the graduating baseball player who best exemplifies the spirit of "the consummate athlete or kind soul".  Characteristics sought are scholastic promise, financial need and an individual who puts team values/goals ahead of individual accolades. Eligible applicants must be current seniors of Marietta High School, participate in MHS Baseball, and have a minimum 2.0 GPA. Students must be planning on pursuing a post-high school degree at an accredited institution.

Frontier Ag Science Scholarship
This scholarship was established to provide funds for Agriculture students attending Frontier High School to obtain a post-secondary education.

Faustena "Frosty" Haas Health Care Scholarship
This scholarship was established to honor the life of Frosty Haas. This scholarship is available to any post-secondary student studying health care; however, greater weight will be given to students studying direct patient care, oncology, nursing, radiology or chemotherapy. This scholarship is renewable. Applicants must have a cumulative GPA in the prior quarter or semester of 2.5 or greater on a 4.0 scale to be considered for renewal.

Edwin "Jack" Haas Memorial Scholarship
This $1,000 Scholarship is to be awarded to any qualified individual who would like to continue his or her technical education in the fields of electronics, electrical, welding, pipe fitting, HVAC, fabrication, machinist or other approved technical training programs. Scholarship recipient must be a graduate or graduating senior of a Washington County School and must have a minimum 2.0 GPA. This scholarship may be used to obtain any post-secondary degree, Vocational training, or Adult Education courses, with greater weight placed on Community Colleges and Technical Training programs. Past recipients may re-apply for this scholarship.

Dr. Richard Hille Scholarship for Medical Students
Eligible applicants must have graduated from a Washington County High School, attended an undergraduate college in Ohio, and be enrolled in Medical School in Ohio. Preference will be given to those in Family Medicine. The Scholarship is renewable from the first to final years of medical school. The student must have a 3.0 GPA to be eligible for the initial scholarship and to be considered for renewals.
 

Terry Huck Memorial Scholarship
This scholarship was established to provide scholarships to Fort Frye High School graduates who have excelled in both scholastic and athletic efforts. This scholarship is available to current seniors of Fort Frye High School enrolled in college preparatory courses and participating in athletics. Applicants must have a minimum GPA of 3.0 to qualify for the scholarship. This scholarship is renewable for three years.

Kevin O'Brien Kelly Memorial Scholarship
This Scholarship is to be awarded to a graduating Marietta High School senior planning to continue his or her education at Ohio University. The Scholarship is also available to Marietta High School graduates currently attending Ohio University. Scholarship recipient must have a minimum 2.5 GPA to qualify. This scholarship may be used to obtain an Associateís or Bachelorís Degree. The Scholarship is renewable for 4 years.

Magnum Manufacturing Scholarship
This $1,000 Scholarship is to be awarded to any qualified individual who would like to continue his or her education at an accredited 2 or 4-year college, university, or technical school and is pursuing an Associateís or Bachelorís Degree. Scholarship recipient must be a graduate or graduating senior of a Washington County or Noble County School and must have a minimum 2.5 GPA. Children of Magnum Employees are also eligible to apply. This scholarship is renewable for up to 4 years provided the student maintains a minimum 2.5 GPA.

John McCracken Memorial Scholarship
The scholarship is valid in the Freshman year of the Marietta High School student's education at an accredited technical college, 4-year college, or university. There is no specific curriculum the student must pursue and at this time the scholarship is not renewable.

James S. and Brenda A. Measell Scholarship
This $500 Scholarship is to be awarded to any qualified individual who would like to continue his or her education at an accredited 4-year college, or university, and is pursuing a Bachelor's Degree. Scholarship recipient must be a graduate or graduating senior of a Washington County School and must have a minimum 3.5 GPA.

Nancy A. Miller Memorial Scholarship
This $500 Scholarship is to be awarded to a graduating senior who would like to continue his or her education in the fields of Math, Science, Education, Information Technology, or Engineering. Scholarship recipients must be a graduating senior of Fort Frye High School and must have a minimum 3.0 GPA. This scholarship may be used to obtain an Associate's Degree, Bachelor's Degree, or Vocational training.

J. William Morris Scholarship
The recipient of this scholarship must have demonstrated and specified an interest in achieving a business administration, accounting or finance degree. This scholarship is valid in the freshman year of the student's education at an accredited 4-year college, or university and is renewable for up to three years. Amount of the scholarship is $5,000.

Greg Schilling Memorial Scholarship
This $1,000 scholarship will be awarded to one graduating senior at Waterford High School and one graduating senior at Fort Frye High School.

Charlie Spindler Athletic Memorial Scholarship
This $500 scholarship will be awarded to a Marietta High School Boys Basketball player who leads by example. A player who puts forth a maximum effort and represents the school, the community, the team and his family with class. Eligible applicants must be current seniors of Marietta High School, participate in MHS Basketball, and have a minimum 3.0 GPA. Students must be planning on pursuing a post-high school degree at an accredited institution.

Mark C. Studenic Memorial Scholarship
This $500 scholarship is to be awarded to any qualified individual who would like to continue his or her education in the fields of Science, Technical, Engineering, or Math. Scholarship recipient must be a graduate or graduating senior of a Washington County School and must have a minimum 2.0 GPA. This scholarship may be used to obtain a Bachelor's Degree, Associate's Degree, Vocational training, or Adult Education courses.

Thomas C. Vadakin Memorial Scholarship
This scholarship will be awarded to a current senior or previous graduate of Marietta High School. Eligible applicants must be pursuing a career in the Engineering or Business fields and must have a minimum GPA of 3.0.
